Lubormír Metnar

Minister, Ministry of the Interior of the Czech Republic

Lubomír Metnar was born in Olomouc and has spent most of his life in the Moravian-Silesian Region. Following his graduation from the Higher Police School, he served for many years with the Police of the Czech Republic, specializing in criminal investigations. He later earned a degree in Economics, Trade, and Services from the University of Ostrava, expanding his professional expertise to include management and economics. After leaving the police force, he transitioned to the private sector, holding positions such as Security Director at Vítkovice, a.s. He returned to public service as Deputy Minister of the Interior for Internal Security. He served as Minister of the Interior (2017–2018) and subsequently as Minister of Defence (2018–2021), where he focused on modernizing the armed forces and strengthening defense cooperation with allies. From 2021 to 2025, he was a Member of the Chamber of Deputies for the ANO 2011 movement and chaired the Defence Committee. Since 2025, he has served as Minister of the Interior in Andrej Babiš's government.
