Ondřej Kovařík has been a Member of the European Parliament elected in the Czech Republic since 2019. He is currently a member of the Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs, the Committee on Budgets, and the Committee on Transport and Tourism. His portfolio spans from capital markets and competitiveness and support for small and medium-sized enterprises to the practical application of new technologies such as artificial intelligence and the development of digital finance. Among other things, he was the author of an opinion report on artificial intelligence. He was the rapporteur for the directive on payment services and shadow rapporteur on the respective regulation. He also negotiated the Open Finance proposal and played a substantive role in shaping the regulation on markets in cryptoassets. Additionally, he served as rapporteur for the LIBE opinion to the Digital Markets Act proposal.
