Petr Mlsna has served as Chairman of the Office for the Protection of Competition (ÚOHS) since 2 December 2020. Since 2003, he has held various key positions within the Office of the Government of the Czech Republic and the Government’s Legislative Council. Between late 2012 and early 2013, he held the post of Minister without Portfolio and chaired the Legislative Council. He subsequently served as Deputy Minister of Justice and later as Deputy Minister at the Ministry of Education, Youth, and Sports. From 2015 until his appointment as Chairman of the Office for the Protection of Competition, he oversaw the Section of Legislation, State Administration, and Territorial Self-Government at the Ministry of the Interior, where he served as Deputy Minister. In addition to his government roles, Mr. Mlsna has been actively involved in academia, lecturing for several years primarily on constitutional law at the Faculty of Law at Charles University in Prague. Since assuming leadership at the Office, Mr. Mlsna has prioritized the establishment of fair and transparent relations with professional stakeholders. The Office engages extensively with experts through consultations and professional forums to present and discuss proposals for legislative changes and evolving practices in decision-making. Under his leadership, the Office has also strengthened collaboration with law enforcement agencies and academic institutions. Chairman Mlsna is particularly dedicated to ensuring that the Office is recognized both domestically and internationally as a reliable guarantor of highly professional, impartial, and independent decision-making.
