Before being appointed Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade, Ing. Jan Kavalírek held managerial positions in the private sector, primarily in the field of medical devices. He has experience in research, development, manufacturing, and international trade and has contributed to the establishment of several successful companies. He also served as the Deputy Director of a certification body. As an expert in artificial intelligence and medtech, he actively participates in European research projects. He is also engaged at the Faculty of Biomedical Engineering at the Czech Technical University in Prague and frequently speaks as a keynote speaker on topics related to AI. He is fluent in English and, in his free time, enjoys boxing, skiing, golf, and the arts. At the Ministry of Industry and Trade, he focuses on artificial intelligence and emerging technologies, supporting the startup ecosystem, reducing administrative burdens for entrepreneurs, strengthening the export of Czech companies, and advancing the medtech sector. He actively represents the Czech Republic in the EU Councils for International Trade and Telecommunications, advocating for industrial modernization through AI, innovation, and digitalization.
